Abstract

The rapid expansion of mobile applications has transformed how individuals interact with digital services, making smartphones essential tools for communication, education, finance, healthcare, and entertainment. Despite this progress, accessibility remains a critical challenge, particularly for users with disabilities who encounter barriers in navigating and interacting with mobile interfaces. Inclusive design is therefore a fundamental requirement for ensuring equitable access to digital technologies.

This study evaluates the usability of iOS application interfaces for users with disabilities, focusing on visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments. It examines how effectively iOS accessibility features and application design practices support inclusive user experiences across diverse user groups. The research further investigates compliance with international accessibility standards and the practical usability of accessibility tools embedded within the iOS ecosystem.

A mixed-method research design is adopted, combining interface evaluation, expert heuristic analysis, and user-based testing involving individuals with disabilities. Key accessibility features such as VoiceOver, Switch Control, Dynamic Type, AssistiveTouch, and color contrast adjustments are analyzed in relation to their integration within third-party iOS applications. In addition, compliance with standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is assessed to determine the level of adherence to global accessibility requirements.

Findings from the study indicate that while iOS provides a strong foundational accessibility framework, many applications still exhibit usability gaps that limit full inclusion.
